Small but influential museum focused on new art, often by young artists. Bilingual wall texts, audioguides, Web site is bilingual (Spanish/English). MCA collects, exhibits and interprets the art of our time, focusing on the period from 1950 to the present. The Museum has two locations: the flagship facility in La Jolla, founded in 1941 and recently renovated and expanded by Robert Venturi (1996); and the downtown San Diego satellite space, which opened in 1993.
